Guided tour led by Antje Vanhoefen, curator of the Marstall Collection, SPSG
Magnificent carriages, sleighs, and palanquins from the 17th and 18th centuries were considered indispensable symbols of a prince’s power and rank. At the same time, they bear witness to the highest level of craftsmanship: Only the finest court sculptors and carriage builders were authorized to create these extraordinary works of art.
A highlight of the collection is the state carriage, which was crafted in 1789 by master carriage builders from Strasbourg for King Frederick William II.
