With Free Admission to the Exhibition

Celebrate the opening of “Kreuzberg: Art and Migration Since 1960” at the Gropius Bau on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, with free admission to the exhibition and a DJ set by Ipek. The group exhibition explores the diverse artistic perspectives on labor migration to the district since the 1960s.

Nowhere else were the social and cultural upheavals in West Germany during the 1960s and 1970s as clearly evident as in Berlin-Kreuzberg: Through recruitment agreements with countries such as Italy, Greece, and Turkey, and the increasing labor migration, changes that shaped reality across West Germany became visible here on a small scale. The group exhibition “Kreuzberg: Art and Migration since 1960,” scheduled for fall 2026, is dedicated to the diverse and hitherto largely unrecognized cultural output surrounding the theme of labor migration and shows how artists in Kreuzberg engage with the tensions and questions of their time.
