Festival from March 17 to 26, 2023
Over the course of two weekends, the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin with principal conductor Robin Ticciati will approach the theme of "Music and Healing" on four concert evenings and with accompanying Saturday lectures.
The choice of theme arose from reflections on the social relevance of one's own actions and from the confrontation with psychological stress, through the inherent dynamics of modern systems and their forms of communication.
Robin Ticciati formulates the guiding questions as follows: "What can classical music do? Does it provide a refuge, relaxation and regeneration, perhaps even creative power?"
As a rule, music does not formulate flush answers, but rather fans out questions according to their various aspects. Music sets its own time scale, is a counterpart to the everyday world, a place of longing and a point of contact for religious, mythical, ideological or fantastic ideas.
Four extraordinary concert evenings will lead the audience through this thematic field. They are complemented by a musicological supporting program.
On March 17 and 25, the festival will be accompanied by lectures in the afternoon in the Curt Sachs Hall of the Museum of Musical Instruments, organized in cooperation with the State Institute for Music Research (SIM).
