As part of the Spätschicht x İÇ İÇE Festival, the Gropius Bau’s Waiting Room will be temporarily transformed into a comedy club, where artist Mila Panić will perform jokes and stand-up comedy.

In her practice, Mila Panić draws on linguistic and performative elements of stand-up comedy. Shaped by her own experiences—growing up in a disintegrating socialist Yugoslavia, facing racist and ethno-nationalist violence, and being displaced by the Bosnian War—morbid humor becomes a tool for her. She uses it to address stories and topics that are often repressed, tabooed, or censored. In doing so, the artist challenges the status quo of what can be said and of collective memory.

Panić’s performances create a space in which individual narratives overlap with broader social realities, and past events intertwine with present-day political ones.

Note:

The performance contains explicit language and addresses racism and other forms of violence.
