Lunch & Listen is a new series in Friedrichshain that brings people together – to eat, listen and discover. Once a month, it creates a space for anyone who doesn't want to spend their Saturday alone, but rather in good company, with music in their ears and something delicious on their plate.

Young and old sit at the same table, mothers with their children next to couples, singles or friends from the neighbourhood. What connects us is the joy of live music, an interest in each other and the need to treat ourselves to something nice at the weekend.

The kitchen serves finely composed dishes with a pan-African twist, while up-and-coming Berlin artists bring a wide variety of sounds to the stage: soul, jazz, modern Afro sounds – music that moves and touches.

Music programme

Sat 22 November 2025, 2 p.m. Mona Rowey and Pensif.
With a mixture of immersive sounds, a touch of psychedelia and echoes of vintage Brazilian pop, they transport the audience into a world where two different voices meet and merge into one.

About the curator

Mia Kováč curates the series. The Berlin-based artist and community manager is dedicated to creating spaces for conscious listening and collective presence. Growing up in Friedrichshain, she witnessed her neighbourhood undergo a steady transformation – from former free and communal spaces to anonymous office complexes, yoga studios and modern residential developments.
Since her parents lived at opposite ends of the same street, Mia describes it as the place where she spent most of her time – in all kinds of moods and emotional states. Mia's work pays tribute to this history. She wants to revive the original spirit of connection and exchange that once characterised our neighbourhood around Ostkreuz. Through her projects, she invites others to slow down, listen attentively and (re)discover the essence of community in an ever-changing city.
