Korea Showcase Night

All active participants will be entered into a raffle and have the chance to win one of three Amazon gift cards worth 200, 100, or 50 euros.

In addition, several other small gifts will be raffled off. All active participants will receive a certificate of participation.

Three guests from the audience who are not related to or friends with the participants will serve as the jury and award points in the individual categories. (The participants with the most points will receive a special certificate, not a prize.)

Length per entry: maximum 5 minutes. The event language is German.

You can participate in the following categories:

1. TELLING STORIES ABOUT KOREA

Tell us about Korea in a short presentation!

Possible topics:

●Why Korea? Why am I interested in Korea of all places? / What makes Korea so unique to me?

●“My Hallyu”: my favorite Korean stars, K-dramas, movies, webtoons, manhwa, etc. / my experience attending a K-pop concert, etc.

●My friends: my Korean friends from the school exchange / Korean friends I’ve met in Germany or Korea / how I made (non-Korean) friends through our shared interest in Korea, etc.

●Vacations in Korea: my dream destinations/ my favorite places I’ve already visited/ my insider tips, etc.

●The Korean language: my ups and downs while learning Korean / my favorite words / my study tips, etc.

●Korean cuisine: my favorite Korean dishes/Korean street food/things to keep in mind when eating together in Korea/depictions of Korean food in Korean TV shows, etc.

●Sports from Korea: My Taekwondo: What I particularly like about this martial art / What values I’ve learned through Taekwondo, etc.

2. KOREA THROUGH MUSIC

Play a piece of Korean music on an instrument (no singing!)

These are the possible genres (no K-Pop):

●Gugak (traditional Korean music)

●Indie

●Rock

●Ballad

●Film music

●Jazz

●R&B

●Folk

●Fusion

●Original compositions, etc.

3. VISUAL KOREA

Depict Korea through art, photography, film, etc.!

●Art (fan art, etc.)

●Photography

●Short film/reel, etc.

4. ACTIVE KOREA

Actively showcase your sport, theater performance, magic, and more!

●Taekwondo

●Hapkido

●Theater

●Magic, etc.

Who can participate?

●People with a keen interest in Korea (ages 9 and up)

●We are looking for amateurs who want to present their take on Korea on stage.

How can you participate?

Send your application by April 27 to korea_showcase@kulturkorea.org (subject line: “Korea Showcase – Entry”)

Entries will be selected by an internal jury. Starting Monday, May 4, participants will be notified individually.

Only those who receive official confirmation will participate in the stage performance on May 22.

Can other guests attend as well?

Participants may register friends and acquaintances for the event. Any remaining seats will be allocated to the general public.

The registration link for the general public will be made available at a later date on the Korean Cultural Center’s website.

Your application should include the following:

●Full name and age

●Contact information (email and phone number)

●Completed consent form for film and video recordings (The consent form will be sent to applicants separately.)

●Details regarding the content and duration of the planned performance

●Digital files of your performance
