Works by Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Ross

Following its impressive debut last season with Beethoven's Opus 130 and the "Grosse Fugue," the Juilliard String Quartet returns to the Pierre Boulez Hall – this time with another work from Beethoven's later creative years.

The String Quartet in A minor from 1825 will be combined with Shostakovich's Seventh String Quartet from 1960 and a new composition by the American violinist and composer Michelle Ross, specially commissioned by the ensemble.

PROGRAM

  • Dmitri Shostakovich - String Quartet No. 7 in F-sharp minor, Op. 108
  • Michelle Ross - Birds on the Moon for String Quartet
  • Ludwig van Beethoven - String Quartet in A minor, Op. 132
