(Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk: Fascism Is Not an Opinion. Staying Steady in Authoritarian Times)
(Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk: Fascism Is Not an Opinion. Staying Steady in Authoritarian Times): Despite all its problems, Germany remains one of the most politically stable, socially secure, economically strong, and socially free countries in the world. Yet populists and extremists paint a very different picture, attempting to dismantle democracy even here in Germany. What can we do to counter them? How can we remain steadfast in these new authoritarian times?
In his new book, Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk calls on us to get involved in our own affairs and to fight to ensure that our freedom, our democracy, and our rule of law are not left at the mercy of misanthropes and fascists.
For now, the friends of democracy and freedom are still in the majority, but they must make their voices heard instead of whining and staying silent.
Democracy only works with a vibrant civil society that speaks out, protests, participates, organizes, challenges, and takes responsibility.
