FOREST SEASONS 2026

Historically, the forest was long regarded as a place of danger and the unknown. It was only from the Romantic era onwards, and with advancing industrialisation, that this view began to change: the forest became a place of longing and retreat, and a canvas for myths and narratives.

Every 45 minutes, FOREST SEASONS unfolds a dynamic cycle of the seasons, encompassing spring, summer, autumn and winter. Light, colour and movement reflect new beginnings, growth, farewells and tranquillity – nature as a resonating space for human emotions.

Light trees, moving visual worlds and kinetic elements such as falling leaves and artificial suns emerge within the space.

The soundtrack is by the Dutch musician Chris Kuijten and combines abstract sound design with melodic elements.

FOREST SEASONS invites visitors to lose themselves in the cycle of the seasons and experience a personal, emotional journey.

DARK MATTER Berlin / TRANSFORMATOR

DARK MATTER is an immersive exhibition space featuring light installations where the real and digital worlds merge.

Holiday Special:

The upcoming Berlin summer holidays (9 July to 22 August) offer precious time away from the daily grind. DARK MATTER provides the space for extraordinary holiday moments centred entirely on interactivity.

Our exhibitions view art not as passive observation, but as a living dialogue: it is the interplay of light, sound and your own movement that brings the spaces to life. When curious eyes explore these dynamic worlds and interact playfully with the installations, an experience is created that bridges generations.

We are particularly proud of the open-mindedness and openness with which our youngest visitors approach modern art. Whilst adults often seek explanations, children grasp the creative impulses entirely intuitively: They move carefree through the galleries, engage directly with some of the works and show us every day just how much challenging media art can fascinate a young audience.
