by Rainer Werner Fassbinder
The award-winning film “The Longing of Veronika Voss” by Rainer Werner Fassbinder (1982) has only been adapted for the stage six times. It is set in the post-war period in 1955.
Fassbinder was inspired by a true story: the fate of the actress “Sybille Schmitz”.
Veronika Voss is a forgotten film star, dreaming of a triumphant return to the glorious past. The true tragedy of Veronika's life is uncovered by the journalist Robert Krohn in meticulous detective work and the truth about criminal machinations comes to light.
The director Mona Glass from the Berlin Theater8Frauen has staged an exciting adaptation for the stage.
