Blurring genre boundaries is a hallmark of the music of Trio SMS. Starting with classical music, the three young musicians venture into world music, contemporary classical music, and improvisation. Their motto: as long as it has musical quality and sounds refined, anything goes.

However, there are hardly any original compositions for their unusual instrumentation (saxophone(s), violin, and percussion). Therefore, they diligently compose and arrange in the SMS Sound Lab, a dusty rehearsal space in Vienna's city center.
Since their founding in Vienna in 2016, Trio SMS has performed at international concert halls and festivals, including the Musikverein Wien, Bulgaria Hall Sofia, the Bregenz Festival, and Sofia Music Weeks. Tours have taken them to Austria, Greece, Bulgaria, and Thailand.
In 2018, the trio released the EP "SMS Incoming," and in 2021, their debut album, "Take it East." Works from this project, as well as new compositions and arrangements, will be performed at their German debut in Nordend.
