Works for Violin and Piano by Fauré, Strauss, and Others
After a long break, Carolin Widmann and Alexander Lonquich return to the Pierre Boulez Saal as a duo. The program includes romantic violin sonatas by Fauré and the young Richard Strauss, as well as Bernd Alois Zimmermann's solo piece from 1951.
The concert opens with Olivier Messiaen's long-lost Fantaisie, which the composer wrote in 1933 at the age of 25 for himself and his first wife, the violinist Claire Delbos.
