AFEKT Festival - Talk Concert:
The international festival for contemporary music AFEKT is presenting itself in Berlin for the fourth time. Festival AFEKT, which has been taking place in Estonia since 2001, is dedicated to contemporary music and aims to enrich the musical landscape through performances of canonical works of new music on the one hand and through contemporary production of new music on the other. The festival has a unique face thanks to the constant participation of Estonian composers and performers.
The concert, entitled BOARDER STATE, focuses on the idea of the border state, both geographically and as an expression of ideas taken to the extreme in music by musical boundaries of pure intonation.
Compositions by Catherine Lamb, Helena Tulve, Thomas Nicholson, Monika Mattiesen, Elis Hallik and Liisa Hirsch will be heard in the Emmaus Church. The Harmonic Space Orchestra and AFEKT soloists play: Duo Sarah Saviet (violin) and Joe Houston piano; Duo Monika Mattiesen flute and Michael Wendeberg (piano), Sirje Aleksandra Viise (soprano), Sander Saarmets (electronic assistance).
The concert is complemented by a conversation between the composers and performers.
