silent green presents

“We are currently living in a state of perpetual crisis. In the wake of a pandemic, we now face wars with significant potential for escalation, and we know that the tipping points of the climate catastrophe were crossed long ago. It’s actually quite clear: the game is over.” – Bjørn Melhus

This summer, silent green is dedicating an extensive solo exhibition to the artist Bjørn Melhus. LOST IN FINITY unfolds as an immersive installation conceived specifically for silent green’s concrete hall.

Melhus stages the exhibition space as a journey through the media-driven, collective subconscious of the 20th and 21st centuries, as a cinematic narrative navigating human longings and fears, apocalyptic scenarios and utopian visions. The starting point is material featuring newly combined excerpts from his artistic practice over the past 35 years, which resonates with the present in an uncanny way: religious imagery meets pop-cultural apocalyptic visions and technoid exit strategies.

LOST IN FINITY creates a space for reflection on the multifaceted crisis of the present that is as melancholic as it is tragicomic, linked to the pressing question of possible alternative visions and new utopias.
