Vocal group VIP from Dresden

The Dresden vocal group VIP consists of eight singers, all former members of the Dresden Kreuzchor or the Leipzig Thomanerchor – two of Germany's most renowned boys' choirs. The singers aim to present their audiences with a broad musical spectrum. Their repertoire encompasses vocal music from the Middle Ages to the present day, with a focus on compositions from the Renaissance, Romantic, and Classical Modern periods, as well as contemporary works.

But popular music is also well represented – from hits of the 1920s to a cappella arrangements of current pop music. The ensemble was founded in 2003 by five then-active members of the Dresden Kreuzchor, two of whom are still part of the group today. Since then, the vocal group has performed countless concerts throughout Germany. Numerous tours have also taken them to Italy, France, Spain, Austria, the Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Kosovo, and Switzerland. Their concerts are flexible, featuring ensembles of four to eight singers.

With "Between the Worlds," the vocal group VIP presents a program that explores the tensions within vocal music of the 20th and 21st centuries. It leads the listener through times of upheaval—epochs in which faith, identity, and artistic expression undergo profound transformations, reflected in the music.

The selected works paint a picture of a century of existential experiences: war and hope, home and uprooting, new beginnings and reflection. Between spiritual contemplation and secular soundscapes, between folk-song simplicity and contemporary complexity, a panorama of human emotion unfolds—multifaceted, moving, and transcending cultural and aesthetic boundaries.

"Between the Worlds" thus represents the search for connection: between past and present, between tradition and renewal, between the individual and the collective. With precision, sonic awareness, and a refined sense of expression, the eight singers of the vocal group VIP create a musical journey that is both thought-provoking and deeply moving.
