Armenian and European sacred music in dialogue

The program juxtaposes sacred arias by Johann Sebastian Bach with Armenian music, opening a musical dialogue between Western Europe and the Caucasus.

Central biblical themes such as mercy, trust, and lament appear in diverse musical languages, yet share a common spiritual depth. The Bach arias are contrasted with works by Komitas and other Armenian composers, which are rooted in centuries-old liturgical and folk music traditions. In this way, parallels between Baroque theology and the Armenian world of faith and sound become audible.

The concert invites the audience to rediscover familiar music and to approach unfamiliar traditions with an open mind.
