One step. Two dancers stand on the threshold of ageing, where the resilient dancing body becomes a scarce resource. Accompanied by live music, they explore this experience and draw on their reservoir of utopian dreams.

What happens when one's dancing and physical abilities inevitably reach the threshold of old age? In the moment of pause and shared understanding, fear and sadness threaten to solidify into paralysis.
Set to music composed and performed live by Michio Woirgardt, the dancers begin to break free from these chains through dance, fuelled by an unbroken passion and confidence. ASHES is a radical commitment to the transformative power of art, channelling the utopian possibilities and energies of the threshold space.
