Musik als märchenhafte Grenzüberschreitung

In the universe of harpist Anna Steinkogler and accordionist Valentin Butt, opposites not only coexist, they inspire each other.

With a sure sense of tone and poetry, they combine elements of jazz, classical, neoclassical, contemporary, and world music—always searching for new forms of expression, always with a twinkle in their eyes. The music is like a journey through fairytale-like liminal spaces: sometimes delicate and intimate, then playful, virtuosic, and captivating. In doing so, they deliberately turn the familiar on its head—very much in the spirit of Lewis Carroll, the evening's inspiration.

The program brings different fairytale worlds into dialogue: for example, Maurice Ravel's famous suite "Ma Mère l'Oye" (Mother Goose), a delicate soundscape that lovingly evokes the poetry of childhood. In contrast, there is the specially composed suite "Scented Rushes"—tailor-made for harp and accordion, rich in color, rhythm, and surprising turns. Astor Piazzolla's tangos, himself a musical boundary-crosser who combined classical form with folkloric depth, act as a connecting element.

"Scented Rushes" is not an ordinary concert, but a musical narrative dialogue—clever, playful, and beyond all conventions.
Those willing to embrace fluid boundaries will be rewarded with an evening that speaks to the mind, heart, and senses alike.
