From Dawn to Dusk: Works by Debussy, Boulanger, Schubert, and Others
For their latest program, the musicians of Trio Gaspard have taken inspiration from the times of day. While Mélanie Bonis and Lili Boulanger evoke the morning in impressionistic colors, Debussy paints a sundrenched noon in La Mer, heard in an arrangement by English composer Sally Beamish. Following Tōru Takemitsu’s meditation on the changing tides, the program comes to a close with the serene evening mood of Schubert’s Notturno.
