Stories Told by Stones ? Chapter I. Elsa Salonen

Elsa Salonen explores in her exhibitions in a very poetic way our relationship to nature. It collects flowers to produce differently colored crystals with the help of its dye, draws on glass with finely ground meteorite dust or distils the liquid from plants.

It activates lost animistic rituals and magical practices to weave them into their own artistic language, asking questions about our relationship to nature. In the new work series for the Schwartzsche Villa Salonen examines the awareness of the stones and the depth of time. This is the topic of Dr. med. Christine Nippe curated an exhibition in the sense of the human-nature relation the history of stones as one of the oldest inhabitants of the earth. During the opening, the Finnish singer Sarah Kivi will perform a solo performance.
