There are situations that make us uncomfortable. Words we don’t say. Injustices we see and let happen. Out of fear, habit, self-preservation, or consideration for others.

But who does this silence really protect? And what price do people—as individuals and as a society—pay every time they choose to remain silent?

“Silence is Sexy” is a collective creation by Pandeforium that combines music, physical expression, imagery, and spoken text to examine the everyday moments of silence in the face of injustice.

The piece raises questions about the social, cultural, and emotional mechanisms that prevent us from intervening.

At a time when speaking up can be uncomfortable, expose us, or isolate us, this piece invites us to reflect on who is allowed to speak, who determines what can and may be said—and how collective silence becomes complicity.

Using the forum theater method, the audience is invited to collaboratively develop strategies for dealing with the situations portrayed and to explore alternative courses of action—drawing on their own experiences and social positions.

An aesthetic and political experience that recognizes: Art is also an act of taking a stand—and shared words can be the first step toward change.
