A poetry and jazz project in honor of Rainer Maria Rilke
In the poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke—whose 150th birthday we celebrated in 2025 and whose 100th death anniversary falls in 2026—the inner and outer worlds intertwine in a unique way, revealing humanity’s integration into a greater order.
The recitation of his eloquent poetry by actor Karl-Heinz Barthelmeus engages in a dialogue with the music composed specifically for the poems by jazz pianist Albrecht Gündel-vom Hofe, accompanied by Liron Yariv (cello), Urs Johnen (double bass), and David Millán (drums).
The resulting dialogue is partly improvisational and constantly renewed: “Work In Progress.”
