Theatre performance
As a child in care, Monika Haeger was brought up to follow the socialist path. As a loyal citizen of the GDR and Stasi employee, she later spied on an important East Berlin women's group, disguised as a close friend of civil rights activist Bärbel Bohley. For the women, this had mostly devastating consequences. Arrests, interrogations and even expatriation from the GDR were the result.
The play recounts the darkest part of East German history through the memories of Monika Haeger (1945-2006).
The voices of the victims also address the early persecutions in the Soviet Occupation Zone with its special camps, the Hoheneck women's prison, the deaths at the Berlin Wall and the notorious Torgau youth labour camp.
