Guided tours offered by VHS City-West

Luise von Mecklenburg-Strelitz was born on March 10, 1776. To mark the birthday of probably the most popular Prussian queen, former palace director Rudolf G. Scharmann gives a guided tour of the New Wing, tells interesting facts about the life of Frederick William III's wife and shows how different famous artists passed on her portrait to posterity.


Queen Luise and her family regularly spent the spring and summer months in the New Wing of Charlottenburg Palace. The furnishings of her apartment in the winter chambers of Frederick William II reflected the latest fashion trends. in 1810, Karl Friedrich Schinkel designed her bedroom, which is one of the most important works of the young master builder.

The tour lasts approx. 1.5 hours.
