“I’m not coming home anymore.” With this sentence, uttered in a brief phone call to her mother, Ece Temelku ran’s involuntary existence as a global citizen began.


After the 2016 coup attempt, the Turkish writer left the country to avoid arrest. She became part of the “nation of strangers,” people who had to leave their homeland or who no longer felt at home in their own country, even in the heart of Europe, due to political developments; they lived in exile, having fled.
