The guided tour begins at the Nordbahnhof S-Bahn station, at the exit to Invalidenstraße, at Elisabeth-Schwarzhaupt-Platz. The tour starts where Berlin's largest long-distance train station once stood and leads across the grounds of the Berlin Wall Memorial, up Bernauer Straße to the Brunnenstraße intersection.
