German Language Performance

Presumably there is this magic moment when theater is tangible. However, this production is not about that. Instead, it's about the barriers that pile up on the way to a somehow aesthetically organized premiere. And no, it's not just about the jammed plywood doors, the indisposed actors, the annoying emergency lighting, or the lack of financial resources - although they are! No, it's about the crisis of the world, and in the theater this is never the exception, but always and fundamentally the normal state.

Michael Frayn's brilliant 1982 comedy is about how a theater group rehearses a tabloid play and sabotages and destroys each other. In this production, no actor is happy when a colleague succeeds. The play interprets theatrical art as world creation in the first act, only to destroy that world in the last act. Where better to stage this play than at the RambaZamba Theater?

If you've always wanted to know what goes wrong backstage while the show is going on in front, this production is for you.
