The magazine “Bridges גשרים Brücken الجسور” is a cultural initiative aimed at creating a community based on solidarity.
The first issue of the magazine was dedicated to Clean Shelter, an organisation founded by Palestinian and Israeli women in Germany that provides humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. The second issue of the magazine will focus on the situation in the West Bank and will be dedicated to Palestinian grassroots organisations and their Israeli partners, Dharma in the West Bank.
Following the Gaza War, Palestinian workers were almost entirely barred from working within Israel. This has led to an unprecedented deterioration in the economic situation in the West Bank. Furthermore, attacks by settlers have become more violent and frequent, and are in turn supported by the Israeli military. The military has also stepped up its activities against Palestinians, thereby disrupting daily life in the West Bank. In response, local grassroots organisations have emerged in the villages to help the most disadvantaged members of society, who are particularly affected by the situation.
Lettrétage is looking forward to the exciting, diverse and international contributions they have received from people in various parts of the world. This magazine is a heartfelt, global, multilingual expression of solidarity with the suffering in Palestine, but also with the hope of the Palestinian people for justice, freedom and a normal life, just like everyone else in the world.
