Greenland photographs by Ragnar Axelsson

The new solo exhibition ‘Arctic Heroes – Hidden Stories’ takes visitors to the Nordic Embassies in Berlin on a journey into the Arctic ice worlds of renowned photographer Ragnar Axelsson from Iceland, also known as RAX. From 27 January to 12 April 2026, the exhibition will display 18 black-and-white photographs from Greenland.

In the Felleshus of the Nordic Embassies, viewers accompany Ragnar Axelsson on his journey through the everyday life of Inuit hunters and sled dogs in the Greenlandic Arctic and experience the extraordinary relationships that the people of the Arctic have developed with their extreme environment.

For over 40 years, Ragnar Axelsson (born 1958), also known as Rax, has been photographing people, animals and landscapes in the most remote regions of the Arctic, such as Iceland, Siberia and Greenland. His photographs have been published in magazines such as LIFE, Newsweek, Stern, GEO, National Geographic, TIME and Polka and exhibited worldwide.

The exhibition will be officially opened on 27 January at 5 p.m. by the artist and the Icelandic Ambassador, H.E. Mr Auđunn Atlason.
