Guided bike tour including a visit to the Kleinmachnow water lock and a historic streetcar

Hop on your bike after work and discover Berlin’s industrial heritage: On the “Canal and Industry” after-work bike tour, you’ll explore the 12-kilometer route and learn about the historical significance of the Teltow Canal for industry and the economy. The tour also addresses the issue of forced labor under the Nazi regime. During the Cold War, the canal served as the border between East and West Germany.

At the Kleinmachnow water lock, you’ll enjoy a one-hour guided tour and a visit to the historic motor car of an electric streetcar.

This guided bike tour is a section of our 20-km “Canal and Industry” bike route. The route runs partly on unpaved forest trails, bike paths, and side streets.

This event is part of the Berlin Industrial Heritage Festival. Registration opens on August 3, 2026.
