The sound collective EXIT VOID emerged from collaborative work on a soundtrack for a video installation and evolved into a permanent ensemble that uses electronic and acoustic instruments equally. Compositional structures alternate with open, improvised passages.

EXIT VOID's working method draws on collective ensemble concepts explored since Minimalism: repetition, layering, and slow transformation as form-building principles. This approach is combined here with electronic sound research and contemporary improvisation practice. More crucial than soloistic exposition is the attentive response within the ensemble—form emerges in the process.

The members come from diverse, clearly defined backgrounds:

Anja Plaschg (voice, electronics) works internationally under the name Soap&Skin. Her releases and film scores combine minimalist arrangements, electronic density, and a distinctive vocal style.

David Reumüller (drums, electronics) works as a drummer and producer in various band and studio contexts, moving between experimental pop music, electronic music, and improvised music.

Alex Kranabetter (trumpet, electronics) performs in several ensembles within the Austrian jazz and improvisation scene and develops electroacoustic extensions for the trumpet.

Wolfgang Lehmann (guitar, electronics) is active as a guitarist and producer in band projects spanning electronic music, ambient music, and free improvisation.

Manfred Engelmayr (guitar) is a member of the experimental rock band Bully (with Didi Kern) and has been a prominent figure in the Austrian noise and avant-rock scene for years.

Katrin Euller (electronics) creates electronic live projects and sound installations, working at the intersection of performance and composition.

KMRU (Joseph Kamaru) is a Nairobi-born, Berlin-based sound artist working in the fields of field recording, experimental composition, installation, and performance. His work explores expanded practices of listening, ecology, and sonic memory beyond conventional auditory frameworks. He has performed internationally and exhibited at festivals including Berlin Atonal, CTM Festival, the Barbican Centre, Ars Electronica, and the Venice Architecture Biennale. He releases his music on labels such as Editions Mego, Touch, and Subtext. His new album, Kin, was released in February 2026.
