I still wear a vest

With an S on my chest

Oh yes, I'm a superwoman

Alicia Keys

Since society largely ignores the gender of people with disabilities, it is difficult for women with disabilities to be recognized in their gender roles. They learn early on that they will never be “real women,” that they are not beautiful or desirable, and that the role of partner and mother is out of the question for them. In addition, they are expected to perform at a higher level in terms of self-care and financial independence.

As part of the theatrical research project Superwomen, we ask four actresses from the RambaZamba Theater:

What is your relationship to equality, partnership, and sexual identity? What is beauty? We will reexamine stereotypes and role models, demonstrate that all women are Superwomen, and celebrate diversity on the RambaZamba stage.

In her work, director Jorinde Dröse explores the themes of motherhood, care work, discrimination, and women’s equality. Her focus lies on the empowerment of marginalized groups and making social structures visible.

With her most recent works, *Die Wut, die bleibt* at the Salzburg Festival and *#motherfuckinghood* at the Berliner Ensemble, she has reached a wide audience and demonstrated that there is a broad resonance for these themes in theater.

She has maintained a working relationship with the RambaZamba Theater and its inclusive ensemble since her production of Billy Backe in 2023.
