Hands-On Beekeeping: What do bees collect from flowers? How were bees kept in centuries past? And how does the honey actually end up in the jar? You’ll find the answers to these and other questions at the open-air museum.

Members of the beekeeping group at the Düppel Museum Village display bee hives from past centuries and answer questions about bees, beekeeping, and honey. A “glass beehive” offers fascinating insights into the life of these insects.

Children can uncap honeycombs and extract honey with their own hands. If the weather and the bees cooperate, there will even be locally produced honey for sale. At a “knowledge wheel” for children, they can also answer tricky questions about bees. Those who know the answers receive a small reward.
