Exhibition opening

The Gegenwind (Headwind) counseling center has been operating in Berlin since 1998. It offers advice and support to people who continue to suffer from the effects of traumas stemming from the SED dictatorship.

Services include psychosocial counseling, therapeutic discussion groups, and yoga. An important component is the therapeutic painting group, which has been running since 2007. It focuses on an artistic and creative way of processing past experiences. Even the unspeakable can be expressed in this way. Various techniques and approaches, both figurative and abstract, are used.

The exhibition showcases works by the painting group. Currently, five people are active in the group. They have developed their own unique styles and powerfully convey their engagement with their past, their way of coping with it in the present, and their vision for the future.
