Two new projects at the Nikolaikirche Museum explore the history of the site. In different ways, they examine what it means to exhibit in a building that itself holds so much history.

“Fighting Over Stones?!” uses video commentary at the gravesites of colonial figures to ask what significance such memorial sites hold today—and how to deal with them when they honor individuals with problematic historical entanglements.

“Who Held Power in the City?” uses seven objects in the permanent exhibition to examine the functions the city church has fulfilled throughout its history.

The curators of the projects, research interns Leon Pschierer and Antonia Moldenhauer, will present the content and explain the background during the tour.
