Two works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy

The Berliner Singakademie is one of Germany's leading oratorio choirs.

With its impressive choral-symphonic performances and atmospheric a cappella concerts, it is an integral part of the Berlin music scene.

Works performed:

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
"The First Walpurgis Night" - Cantata for Soloists, Choir, and Orchestra, Op. 60

Felix Mendelssohn's furious ‘First Walpurgis Night’ op.60, inspired by Goethe's  Goethe's dramatic ballad, describes the conflict between pagan community and Christianisation, between faith and superstition.

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
"Hymn of Praise" - Symphony-Cantata for Soloists, Choir, and Orchestra in B-flat Major, Op. 52

After its acclaimed premiere in Leipzig on 26 June 1840 and its performance in Birmingham a few weeks later, the symphonic cantata ‘Lobgesang’ op. 52 was regarded as the composer's greatest and most ingenious work.
