Under the title “48 Hours in Spandau,” the district opens up as a place of culture, faith, and dialogue. Concerts, readings, exhibitions, workshops, and spiritual reflections invite people to engage in conversation with one another and discover new points of connection with the church.
The church and cultural festival begins on Friday afternoon with a wide range of events—spread throughout Spandau, from the Old Town to the various neighborhoods and church communities.
Saturday marks the highlight of the weekend, when church communities, associations, and cultural figures showcase the district’s diversity.
On Sunday, the festival transitions into the “Fête de la Musique” with concerts throughout the district.
Background & Quotes
"48 Hours in Spandau" aims to appeal to people with very different interests and life situations—including those who have had little exposure to the church or Spandau so far. Through open doors, friendly conversations, and genuine fellowship, parishes, cultural institutions, and associations demonstrate just how vibrant, creative, and hospitable the Spandau district is.
The patron is Superintendent Florian Kunz: “I am glad that we, as a Protestant church district, were able to launch this festival, which is entirely new for Spandau. The ‘48 Hours in Spandau’ festival brings together spiritual and cultural offerings. I am especially pleased about all the people, initiatives, and cultural institutions that are participating.”
The festival is organized by Dominic Riemenschneider (Citykirche Spandau) and Bettina Kammer (Public Relations): “Even though we’re still busy planning and coordinating, we already know: It’s going to be great!”
The festival is sponsored by: VisitSpandau, the Spandau Cultural Office, and VisitBerlin.
