Cemeteries are ideal habitats for bats; these animals require the darkness of night, which cemeteries provide even in the middle of the city. A wide variety of bat species can be observed at dusk in the Old Twelve Apostles Cemetery (Alter Zwölf-Apostel-Kirchhof).
