Guided tour for families with children aged 4 and over

Sheep in a palace garden, right in the heart of Berlin? It may sound unusual, but it’s actually a great idea—for the sheep and for the garden! On this guided tour led by two experts, children will learn all about these woolly animals and get to experience them up close.

Head Gardener Andrea Badouin explains the important role these “animal lawnmowers” play and why they’re still not allowed to graze on the manicured grounds of the palace. Shepherd Hannah Becker introduces the animals and shares how the flock moves between their winter quarters and the palace gardens each year, what they experience there, and how she cares for them. Anyone who wants to can interact with the sheep, feed them, and learn how to shear their wool. Lilly, Hannah Becker’s sheepdog-in-training, is always there.

The program lasts about one and a half to two hours and is designed for children. A guided tour for adults is offered at 2:00 p.m. under the title “Meadows, Pastures, Wool.”

Please note that parking in the area around the castle gardens is limited. We recommend traveling by public transportation.
