Our culture of remembrance must change. Susanne Siegert explains how and why in this book. She advocates for a pluralistic, new approach to remembrance with a focus on the responsibility of the descendants of the perpetrator generation instead of our ‘rehearsed’ collective reflection with the victims. It deals with lesser-known Nazi crimes, lesser-known places and previously neglected groups of victims. At the same time, this book shows how important a more active, diverse culture of remembrance is in order to reach future generations even without direct eyewitness accounts.
