"This is not meant for the individual pianist," wrote Hugo von Hofmannsthal in his afterword to Der Rosenkavalier.

Elias Corrinth is undeterred by this and presents his personal take on Richard Strauss's greatest opera in the OpernSalon, a work in which profound human truths are revealed to us in the guise of a Viennese comedy.

Past, present, and future confront the audience in the figures of Ochs and Octavian, the Marschallin and Sophie. Who will become whom? The Marschallin muses on the passage of time and yet introduces the silver rose as a symbol of eternity. And what does time stand still actually sound like?

"For a German artist, the workload doubles," Richard Strauss famously declared, and so this light comedy became an operatic festival in three grand acts, which Elias Corrinth will approach in a characteristically humorous and illuminating manner.

You can expect a musical kaleidoscope of humor, burlesque, sentimentality, and romance, along with a generous dose of affectionate irony.
