THE ANTHEM is a 35-minute solo performance by Asya Ashman and will be premiered as a new work. Based on the musical structure of Darude's Sandstorm, the piece deconstructs the logic of tension building and climax, asking what remains when the promised future fails to materialize and the “drop” never comes.

The performance invites the audience into a hypnotic process of unbuilding and explores integration and disintegration as embodied states in a fragmented socio-political context. Through repetition, exhaustion, shifting performative states, and unstable relationships with the audience, a search emerges for what becomes visible in the ruins of imagined futures.
