Gig offers an intimate glimpse into the precarious reality of freelance dance artists in Berlin and beyond. The solo piece explores the demands of the gig economy—a working world in which artists constantly shift roles, adapt, and sustain their practice with limited support.
Against the backdrop of a post-pandemic era marked by rising living costs and shrinking cultural funding, the performance combines dance, text, and direct address. The work thus becomes a statement of resilience, reflecting the do-it-yourself conditions of independent art production. From her perspective as a migrant artist, Pamela Moraga addresses themes such as work, exhaustion, and identity with equal parts vulnerability and wit. Gig doesn't just critique—it survives, performs, and responds.
