AUF_-_-bruch is an one-hour performance at the intersection of dance, film, sound, and text. The piece dissolves the boundaries between stage and projection, creating an immersive landscape where reality blends with memory, and vision merges with the present moment.

Two dancers perform live on stage, surrounded by a floor-to-ceiling projection of a dance film shot with a company in wide open nature. The movements on screen and those in the room weave together—sometimes mirrored, sometimes contrasting—forming a dynamic dialogue between external events and inner experience.

The narrative begins with a group forced by hunger and scarcity to make a drastic decision: the elders must stay behind. What first appears as loss and abandonment gradually becomes a source of transformation. Those left behind discover resilience, draw strength from memories, and find new paths forward. Meanwhile, the group that continued wanders aimlessly, driven by survival instinct, until doubt and longing for belonging lead them to turn back. A reunion becomes possible, and out of separation grows a shared new beginning.

On stage, the two dancers embody the inner worlds of the ones left behind—their fears, hopes, resistance, and courage. Through movement, emotional and psychological processes become physically visible. A carefully woven text accompanies the performance, offering subtle guidance while leaving space for personal interpretation.

A rich soundscape—ranging from contemporary classical and avant-garde elements to specially created sonic environments—supports and deepens the emotional arc. AUF_-_-bruch asks: What gives us strength when everything shakes? How do we find courage? And what does it mean to rediscover oneself within a community? The result is a powerful fusion of film and live dance, offering a moving reflection on vulnerability, resilience, and the possibility of beginning again.
