The Wuhlheide Park Railway is starting its 70th season of operation, officially kicking off its anniversary year. Since 1956, the traditional park railway has been an integral part of Berlin's leisure and railway culture – and remains a popular destination for Berliners and visitors to the city alike.
On both days, trains will run from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 1.40 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the approximately 7.5-kilometre-long network through Wuhlheide. Steam locomotives are planned for the afternoon.
The park railway connects history and the future in a special way: some of the vehicles used are over 100 years old, while the operation is largely run by children and young people. Over 4,000,000 passengers have taken a trip on the park railway since it opened in 1956.
