Vlado Kreslin is one of the best-known and highly esteemed Slovenian musicians. He is a singer-songwriter, poet, and actor renowned for blending Slovenian folk traditions with contemporary rock and blues.
His musical journey began in 1970s and Vlado Kreslin gained prominence as the lead vocalist of the rock group Martin Krpan in the 1980s. Today, he is one of the most important figures in Slovenian music scene with worldwide recognition and many sold out concerts.
Throughout his career, Kreslin has performed with international artists such as R.E.M., The Dubliners, Allan Taylor, Hans Theessink, Vlatko Stefanovski, Antonella Ruggiero, and the Barcelona Gipsy and Klezmer Orchestra. Notably, he and his band have opened twice for Bob Dylan. His annual December concerts at Cankar Hall in Ljubljana have become a cherished tradition in Slovenia’s cultural calendar.
Kreslin’s contributions to music and culture have been recognized with several honors in the Republic of Slovenia. His work has been instrumental in revitalizing Slovenian folk music, bridging generational gaps and cultural divides. An important source of inspiration for Kreslin is the cultural heritage of the Slovenian region “Prekmurje”, where he comes from.
Beyond music, Kreslin is an accomplished poet and actor. His poetry collections, such as “Namesto koga roža cveti” (“Instead of Whom Does the Flower Bloom”), have been translated into multiple languages. He has also wrote music for and appeared in different Slovenian films, further showcasing his artistic versatility.
