60 Years of German-Israeli Relations – A Conversation Series

The Federal Republic of Germany has repeatedly emphasized its special responsibility for the security and well-being of Israel. But what does this raison d'état mean in concrete terms today? What kind of solidarity can and should Germany offer? How is historical responsibility carried within society – and where does legitimate criticism end?

With the new discussion series “TALK60” initiated and moderated by Melody Sucharewicz, they are creating a platform for profound conversations about Israel and Judaism in the context of democracy, socio-politics, and geopolitics.

To kick off the series, they welcome Federal Minister for Education, Family, Seniors, Women, and Youth, Karin Prien. Together, they will shed light on key aspects of German-Israeli relations – from the growing societal polarization since October 7, 2023, to the influence of “the street” on political decisions, and the question of how education can serve as an effective corrective against extremism and antisemitism.

“TALK60” brings together personalities from politics, society, and academia in an open dialogue – about responsibility, freedom of expression, democratic values, and the future of German-Israeli relations.
