In the 1950s and 60s, five sculptures by Georg Kolbe were posthumously installed in the small park near the museum. These works were placed in public spaces, many of which were created during the National Socialist period, some for public purposes, such as installation in front of a Hitlerjugend home in Eilenburg (Kniende), for war memorials (Stürzender), and for the Richard-Wagner-Hain or the Leipzig Swimming Stadium at the ‚Sportforum‘ designed by architect Werner March (Liegende).
Wolfgang Brauneis, art historian and curator (e.g., Die Liste der „Gottbegnadeten“. Künstler des Nationalsozialismus in der Bundesrepublik, DHM Berlin), will discuss the creation of the Georg-Kolbe-Hain and its challenging significance in the present during a walk through the park.
