Gunter Kennel studied Protestant church music and theology as well as organ with a master class diploma. From 1992 to 2002 he worked as a church musician at the Passionskirche and the Kirche Zum Heiligen Kreuz in Berlin.
His work took him on numerous guest tours within Germany, Europe, as well as to Israel and the USA. As a lecturer in church music at the Humboldt University and in liturgy at the UdK Berlin, he was appointed professor.
Since 2002 he has been the regional church music director of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia and has released several CD recordings.
