The Church of the Redeemer was consecrated in 1892. It was the first of the new church buildings completed as part of Empress Auguste Victoria's church building program in the outlying districts of the growing capital. Today it is located between the Nöldnerplatz and Rummelsburg S-Bahn stations. In the 1980s, the Church of the Redeemer became known for peace movement activities. In March 1983, the Düsseldorf punk band Die Toten Hosen played a secret concert in this church, which of course did not remain secret.
